What is Lift for Life?

Lift for life is an Evidence based resistance (Strength) training program that was developed particularly for people with or at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The Lift For Life program is also ideal for, and will benefit a broad range of other chronic diseases including; heart disease, high blood pressure, Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoporosis and Fibromyalgia to name a few. It is also an awesome program for anyone the has been leading a sedentary life or is just starting out on their fitness journey, perhaps having never exercised before. The program is suitable for adults of any age and ability.

The program is conducted in small friendly groups. It consists of 3 x 8 week phases- Bronze, Silver and Gold  adding to 6 months in total.

Throughout the program we keep your GP up-to-date on how you are going by providing them with thorough reports.

 

What is involved?

You will have a consultation where it will be ascertained if you require a GP’s medical clearance to begin.

We will measure and report on your baseline via a thorough assessment, which will measure your currents strength and functional capacity.

You will be provided with an individualised resistance (strength) training program to undertake which is fully supervised and supported by an Accredited Lift for Life Trainer, while being undertaken in a small group of up to 12 people.

Bronze and Silver Phase clients train 2 times per week with Gold phase clients having the option of an additional 3rd session a week.

At the end of each 8 week phase you will be reassessed, your program reviewed and a progress report will be produced for both you and your Allied Health Specialist.

 

The Training and it‘s benefits

Resistance training involves using your own body weight or resistance equipment like a dumbbell or rubberised bands, for a set number of repetitions. The great thing is, no matter what level or abilities you start with, both the workload, weights and equipment are tailored to your where you’re starting from.

As with all training programs you will not see instant results but you will notice changes within a few weeks, daily chores and activities will be easier and you may even find things you avoided previously you are now doing mindlessly.
